Registration for the 2013 Soaring Wings Half Marathon & Relay will open Saturday, March 2!

The 2013 Soaring Wings Half Marathon and Relay will be held Saturday, October 26 at 8:00 a.m. at the McGee Center at Conway, AR!  Registration will open soon!  If you haven’t already done so, like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/swhalf for the latest announcements and information!

When arriving at the race site tomorrow, please help us ease congestion at the race site and on the roads nearby. If possible, commute to the race with fellow runners to make sure everyone has a parking space. College Avenue will be CLOSED tomorrow morning, so please use the Prince Street entrance to the McGee Center, just East of the intersection of Prince and Hogan.

While there is some parking available at the McGee Center, these spots will fill up fast. For ease of getting in and out, we recommend the following two overflow parking locations:

• Woodland Heights Baptist Church (at the southwest corner of Prince and Hogan)
• Fellowship Bible Church (1051 Hogan Lane)

Both of these overflow lots will allow easy access and are short walks away from the McGee Center.

Remember: ARRIVE EARLY to allow yourself enough time to park and get to the starting line. Packet pick-up will close at 7:45 AM and the race will start promptly at 8:00 AM.

The Soaring Wings Kids’ Run is right around the corner!  If your child has been logging miles for the Kids’ Half Marathon, DON’T FORGET TO BRING THEIR COMPLETED LOG SHEET WITH YOU!!  A log sheet can be downloaded from this website.

The races will take place on Friday night, October 26 at 6:00, at the Conway Human Development Center Park.  You may use the address 150 Siebenmorgan Rd., Conway, AR  72032 if you have a GPS.  Otherwise, see below for directions.

If coming from Vilonia area, continue west on Highway 64/Oak Street into Conway.  Turn right on Museum Road (near Smith Ford Dealership).   Enter the round about to go left on Siebenmorgan Road.  Turn right into the 1st entrance to the Conway Human Development Center.  Look for the Kids Run banner to know where to turn!

From I 40, take the Highway 65 exit, and go south on Highway 65 (Harkrider St.).  Go straight through the first round about, then at the 2^nd round about, continue around to turn left onto Siebenmorgan Road.  Continue east on Siebenmorgan, and turn left into the 2^nd Conway Human Development Center entrance.  Look for the Kids’ Run banner to know where to turn!

At registration, all participants will receive a bib with a colored smiley face on it that corresponds to their age group and race. They will then line up behind that color of sign when waiting for their race to begin.   Half Marathon participants should hand in their log sheets at the registration table when getting their bib.   Participants who registered before the shirt cutoff date will receive their shirts at registration, and extra shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Bib number assignments will be sent out via email at the end of this week.  You will need this document to pick up your packet.  You don’t have to print it on paper, an electronic copy (i.e., email on a smartphone) will suffice.

You may pick up a packet for another participant as long as you bring a copy of their confirmation email (electronic copies suffice).  No confirmation, no packet.

Relay Information

• If you want a name on your bib OTHER THAN the first name you registered with, you must email us at info@swhalf.com by 9/30.
• If you would like to transfer your registration to another runner or defer your registration to 2013, you have until 9/30 to do so for FREE. After 9/30, transfers/deferrals WILL cost you $15 OR BE DENIED.
• If you have registered and know you aren’t going to be running the race, please let us know ASAP. We have quite a few folks still wanting a spot in the event.

Once again, we’re happy to host the crew from Chiseled at the 2012 Braswell & Son Soaring Wings Half Marathon finish line.  Bring your newly earned half marathon medal to their tent at the finish line area on race day, and for just $10 (cash or check) they’ll add a personal touch to your bling.

You can choose two lines of engraved text such as your official race time, your name, “personal record” or “first half marathon” to help you remember your accomplishment.

With 2,000 participants, representing 24 states, the 2012 Braswell & Son Soaring Wings Half Marathon is FULL.  Registration for this event is now CLOSED.
